Aid workers were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

Chef Jose Andres, the founder of World Central Kitchen, said that the workers, including Australian, British and Palestinian nationals, were killed by an Israeli airstrike.

Media controlled by Hamas in Gaza also reported that Israel carried out the attack.

The BBC was unable to independently confirm the attack.

The Israeli army announced that it was conducting a “thorough review”.

A source at Al-Aqsa Hospital in the central Gaza Strip told the BBC that the bodies of the four aid workers, including their Palestinian driver, had been brought to the hospital.

According to the source, the workers were traveling by car in the coastal city of Deir al-Lah when the airstrike took place.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that aid worker Lalzaumi Frankcom was among those killed and offered condolences to his family and friends.
