በእስራኤል መንግሥት ውስጥ ያለውን ጥልቅ ክፍፍል በግልጽ ያሳያል በተባለ ውሳኔ የአገሪቱ የጦር ካቢኔ ሚኒስትር ቤኒ ጋንትዝ የአስቸኳይ ጊዜ መንግስቱን ለቀቁ።

የሚንስትሩ ውሳኔ ከጋዛ ጦርንት በኋላ ባለው ዕቅድ ላይ ከጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ቤንያሚን ኔታንያሁ ጋር የተፈጠረው ልዩነት ማሳያ ተደርጓል።

ጋንትዝ እሑድ ዕለት በቴል አቪቭ በሰጡት ጋዜጣዊ መግለጫ ላይ ስልጣናቸውን መልቀቃቸውን ሲያሳውቁ ውሳኔውን “ቀልል አልነበረም” ብለዋል።

“እንደ አለመታደል ሆኖ ኔታንያሁ ወደ እውነተኛው ድል እንዳንቀርብ እየከለከለን ነው። ይህም ለቀጠለው ቀውስ ማሳያ ነው” ብለዋል።

በአንዳንዶች የእስራኤል ቀጣዩ ጠቅላይ ሚንስትር ለመሆን ዕድል እንዳላች የሚነገርላቸው ጋንትዝ፤ ኔታንያሁ የምርጫ ቀን እንዲወስኑ ጠይቀዋል።

ኔታንያሁ በኤክስ ላይ በሰጡት አስተያየት “ቤኒ አንድ የምንሆንበት አንጂ ይህ ኃላፊነት የምንሸሽበት ጊዜ አይደለም” ብለዋል።

የተቃዋሚ ፓርቲ መሪ ያየር ላፒድ በበኩላቸው ጋንትዝን ውሳኔ “አስፈላጊ እና ትክክለኛ” ሲሉ በማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ላይ ደግፈዋል።

ውሳኔውን ተከትሎ ቀኝ አክራሪው የብሔራዊ ደህንነት ሚኒስትር ኢታማር ቤን-ጊቪር በጦር ካቢኔው ውስጥ ለመካተት ጠይቀዋል።

ቤን-ጊቪር የአሜሪካ ፕሬዝዳንት ጆ ባይደን ያቀረቡትን የተኩስ አቁም ሃሳብ እስራኤል የምትቀበለው ከሆነ ስልጣን ለቀው መንግሥት እንደሚያፈርሱ ሲዝቱ ነበር።

In a decision that clearly shows the deep divisions in the Israeli government, the country’s defense minister, Benny Gantz, resigned from the emergency government.

The minister’s decision reflects differences with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the post-Gaza war plan.

Gantz said the decision “wasn’t easy” when announcing his resignation at a press conference in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

“Unfortunately, Netanyahu is preventing us from getting closer to a real victory. This is a sign of the ongoing crisis,” he said.

Gantz, who is said by some to be the next Prime Minister of Israel; Netanyahu asked them to set an election date.

In his comments on X, Netanyahu said, “Benny, we are united, Angie, this is not the time to run away from responsibility.”

Opposition leader Yair Lapid supported Gantz’s decision on social media, calling it “necessary and correct”.

Following the decision, right-wing National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Givir asked to be included in the military cabinet.

Ben-Givir has vowed to resign and overthrow the government if Israel accepts US President Joe Biden’s cease-fire proposal.
