የኩዌት ከተማ በሆነችው ማንጋፍ ውስጥ በሚገኝ አንድ የመኖሪያ ሕንጻ ላይ በደረሰ የእሳት አደጋ ቢያንስ 41 ሰዎች መሞታቸውን የአገር ውስጥ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር አስታወቀ።

በማኅበራዊ ሚዲያ ላይ የተጋሩ ቪዲዮዎች የሕንጻው የታችኛ ክፍሎች በእሳት ነበልባል ሲቃጠሉ፣ ከላይኛው ክፍሎች ደግሞ ጥቁር ጭስ ሲወጣ አሳይተዋል።

ባለሥልጣናት እንዳሉት ከሞቱት ሰዎች በተጨማሪ ሌሎች 15 ጉዳት ደርሶባቸው ወደ ሆስፒታል ተወስደዋል። በእሳት ቃጠሎው ጉዳት ከደረሰባቸው ሰዎች መካከል አብዛኞቹ በሕንጻው ውስጥ የሚኖሩ ከውጭ አገራት የመጡ ሠራተኞች ናቸው።

የኩዌት የአገር ውስጥ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ቃል አቀባይ እሳቱ በቁጥጥር ስር ውሎ በሕንጻው ውስጥ ያሉ ሰዎችን ሕይወት የማዳን ሥራ እየተከናወነ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል።

At least 41 people have died in a fire that broke out in a residential building in Mangaf, the city of Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior announced.

Videos shared on social media showed the lower parts of the building engulfed in flames and black smoke billowing from the upper parts.

Officials said that in addition to the dead, 15 others were injured and taken to hospital. Most of the people injured in the fire are foreign workers living in the building.

A spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior said the fire was under control and efforts were underway to save the lives of people inside the building.

Major General Id al-Owayhan told national television that the fire broke out at 12 o’clock this Wednesday morning.

Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf al-Sabah visited the crash site and accused the building’s owners of violating safety regulations and “being greedy for money,” Reuters news agency reported.
