It was reported that the President of Somalia cut short his stay in Addis Ababa and returned to his country after accusing the security forces of the Ethiopian government of preventing him from attending the African Union meeting.

It is known that after Ethiopia signed a memorandum of understanding with Somaliland, which declared its independence, Somalia raised its objection and a dispute arose between the two countries.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who came to Addis Ababa to attend the African Union meeting for the first time after the relations between Somalia and Ethiopia became strained, said that there was an attempt by the security forces in Ethiopia to prevent him from attending the meeting.

Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that the president left the summit of the union, which was held for two days and ended this Sunday, and returned to Mogadishu on Saturday night.

The president and his delegation told reporters in Addis Ababa after attending the meeting that they were stopped by armed security forces when they tried to leave their hotel and enter the AU headquarters on Saturday.
