አብዛኞቹ ኢትዮጵያውያን የሆኑ ስደተኞችን አሳፍራ ስትጓዝ የነበረች ጀልባ ከየመን የባሕር ዳርቻ አቅራቢያ ተገልብጣ ቢያንስ 38 ሰዎች መሞታቸውን ባለሥልጣናት አስታወቁ።

ከአደጋው የተረፉ ሰዎች ለነፍስ አድን ሠራተኞች እንደተናገሩት ጀልባዋ 250 የሚጠጉ ሰዎችን አሳፍራ የነበረ ሲሆን፣ ለመገልበጥ የበቃችውም በካባድ ነፋስ ምክንያት ነው ተብሏል።

መሞታቸው ከታወቀው 38 ሰዎች ውጪ ሌሎች 100 ሰዎች የደረሱበት ያልታወቀ ሲሆን፣ እነሱን ለማግኘት ፍለጋ እየተደረገ ነው።

ከየመን ዋና ከተማ አደን በስተምሥራቅ የምትገኘው የሩደም አካባቢ ባለሥልጣናት እንዳሉት አደጋው በደረሰባት ጀልባ ላይ ተሳፈረው ከነበሩት አብዛኞቹ ኢትዮጵያውያን ስደተኞች ሲሆኑ፣ የመንን ወደ ወደ ባሕረ ሰላጤው አገራት ለመሸጋገሪያነት ይጠቀሙባታል።

የሩደም አካባቢ አስተዳዳሪ የሆኑት ሃዲ አል-ኹርማ ለሮይተርስ ዜና ወኪል እንደተናገሩት በጀልባዋ ላይ የመስመጥ አደጋው የደረሰው ወደ ባሕር ዳርቻው ከመቃረቧ በፊት ነው።

በስፍራው የነበሩ ሰዎች 250 የሚሆኑ ስደተኞችን አሳፍራ አደጋው የደረሰባት ጀልባ ላይ የነበሩ በርካታ ሰዎችን ሕይወት ማትረፋቸው ተነግሯል።

Authorities announced that at least 38 people died when a boat carrying mostly Ethiopian refugees capsized near the coast of Yemen.

Survivors told rescue workers that the boat was carrying about 250 people, and it was said to have capsized due to strong winds.

Apart from the 38 people who are known to have died, the whereabouts of another 100 people is unknown, and a search is on to find them.

According to the authorities of Rudem area, which is located east of Yemen’s capital Aden, most of the people who were on board the boat where the accident happened were Ethiopian refugees, who use Yemen as a transit to the Gulf countries.

Hadi al-Khurma, the governor of Rudem, told Reuters news agency that the boat sank before it approached the coast.

It was said that many people who were on the boat carrying about 250 refugees were not saved.
