የተባበሩት መንግሥታት ከፍተኛ ፍርድ ቤት እስራኤል ሊከሰት የሚችለውን ረሃብ ለማስወገድ ምግብ እና መድሃኒት ጋዛ እንዲገባ እንድትፈቅድ አዘዘ።

የተመድ ዓለም አቀፍ ፍርድ ቤት እስራኤል “በአስቸኳይ የሚፈለጉ አገልግሎቶች እና ሰብዓዊ እርዳታዎች” እንዲገቡ “ያለመዘግየት” መፍቀድ አለባት ሲል ወስኗል።

የፍርድ ቤቱ ውሳኔ የተሰማው በሳምንታት ውስጥ ጋዛ በረሃብ ልትመታ ትችላለች የሚል ማስጠንቀቂያ ከወጣ በኋላ ነው።

የተመድ ፍርድ ቤት ውሳኔዎች በሕግ አሳሪ ቢሆኑም ፍርድ ቤቱ ግን የሚያስተላልፈውን ትዕዛዝ ተፈጻሚ የማድረግ አቅም የለውም።

እየወጡ ያሉ ሪፖርቶች እስራኤል ሆነ ብላ የሰብዓዊ እርዳታዎች ጋዛ እንዳይደርሱ እንደምትከለክል ይጠቁማሉ። እስራኤል ግን መሰል ትችቶች መረጃ ላይ የተመሰረቱ አይደለም በማለት ታስተባብላለች።

ይህ ፍርድ ቤት ቀደም ሲል እስራኤል በጋዛ የዘር ማጥፋት ወንጀል እየፈጸመች ነው በሚል በደቡብ አፍሪካ የቀረበውን ክስ ሲመለከት ነበር።

The United Nations High Court has ordered Israel to allow food and medicine into Gaza to avert a possible famine.

The UN International Court of Justice ruled that Israel must allow “urgently needed services and humanitarian aid” to enter “without delay”.

The court’s ruling comes after warnings that Gaza could be hit by famine within weeks.

Although the decisions of the International Court of Justice are legally binding, the court does not have the power to enforce its orders.

Emerging reports suggest that Israel is deliberately blocking humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza. Israel, however, denies that such criticisms are based on information.

This court was previously hearing a case brought by South Africa alleging that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
